National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help 4047 Chapel Drive, New Franken 920-315-0398Website | Map 16.1 Miles from KI Convention Center This is the first and only site in the United States which is approved by the Roman Catholic Church as an apparition site of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As the story goes, Adele Brise was born in Belgium ... Read More in 1831 and moved with her family to a Belgium settlement near Green Bay in the early 1850s. In 1859, after several documented appearances around the world, Mary visited Adele in the wooded area of her farm with the definitive purpose to ask Adele to pray for poor sinners and teach the young children about the catechism and the sacraments. Adele dedicated the rest her life to doing just that travelling from town to town tirelessly praying and teaching. Lambert Brise, Adele's father, eventually built a chapel on the site of the apparition. Pilgrimages began shortly after where people were often cured of blindness, deafness, illness, and many other ailments.
An important milestone in the history of the Shrine is the Great Peshtigo Fire of 1871. This is one of the worst recorded fires ever in the United States burning 1.5 million acres. Adele and her sisters took shelter in the chapel along with several area residents. Many moved their livestock onto the chapel grounds, as well. Adele and her sisters took the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and marched around the chapel praying. As the fire quickly grew and approached the Shrine perimeter, a heavy rain fell putting out the fire before it could reach the chapel. The people inside were saved, and the only livestock to survive the fire were the ones brought onto the chapel grounds.
Due to all the pilgrim visitors coming to the Shrine, a new and larger chapel was built in 1942. There are now numerous events held throughout the year at the Shrine. In mid-August one of the biggest events is held called the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On October 8, an outdoor candlelit rosary procession is held in honor of the Shrine surviving the Great Peshtigo Fire along with an all-night Adoration. Daily Masses are held inside the beautiful chapel accompanied by daily confessions. The Oratory where Mary appeared to Adele is below the chapel. Thanks to a recent renovation, the Shrine is completely handicap accessible. Visit this Shrine just east of Green Bay for prayer, confession or just to learn some Wisconsin history. The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help is great for large groups and motorcoach tours with adequate bus-parking space.

The Fox River Trail corridor has a rich history, beginning with the Native Americans who used footpaths to travel between their villages located along the river. The early French explorers, missionaries, and traders built their posts and missions along these trails. Later, a military road was built along portions of the corridor linking Green Bay to Milwaukee. In 1873, the Milwaukee and Northern Railway Company purchased the corridor and the first trains began making regular runs between the Green Bay and Milwaukee markets. Trains would continue to run on the corridor for the next 116 years as ownership passed from one railroad to another. In 1989, regular rail service was discontinued, signaling the end of one era, and the beginning of another with the development of the Fox River Trail.
In 2001, a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Brown County Parks was formed for the development of the Fox River State Trail.

Read More This starts at the foundation - a great pair of shoes! The fit process begins with a conversation. Our professional shoe fitters start by asking you about several factors that may influence your shoe choice such as what activity you plan to use these shoes for, the experience you have had with shoes you have been wearing. We look at the wear patterns of shoes you may bring in, and talk about any physical pain you have been experiencing when you are active. Next we take you through a gait analysis. This means we will have you take off your shoes and roll up your pants legs so we can get a look at how your feet and ankles work together. We will have you walk across the store and back taking note of your arch height, ankle position, and how they work together as you walk. The process will show us what shoes will work best for you. After the fit process is complete, when you are confident in a pair of shoes you have selected, we recommend every customer try the shoes out at home and be sure they are the correct shoes for them. We understand that a new pair of shoes may feel different once you take them home. We try to avoid this "different" as a bad sensation in our efforts working with you the first time you visit the store. However, we understand that you do not know how a shoe will work until you do your activity in them. We want you to be happy with your shoes! Salon Elan 2160 Holmgren Way, Green Bay 920-448-3220Map
